From May 20–22, 2025, the European Union (in Liberia) conducted a verification visit across project sites of the Cassava Transformation Project (CASTRAP) and the Liberia Fisheries Governance Project (LFGP)—both implemented by CERATH in the southeast of Liberia.
The mission provided the EU team with firsthand engagement with project beneficiaries, allowing for valuable observation of the impact and progress across both interventions.
Under the CASTRAP component, the EU representatives visited cassava cooperatives and processing centres across Grand Gedeh, Maryland and Sinoe. The EU observed the processing activities at the centres and their resultant value-added products (such as gari, super gari, and fufu powder). The EU also assessed key infrastructure and equipment supplied through CASTRAP.
In Sinoe County, the visit further shifted focus to LFGP, where the EU delegation observed ongoing alternative livelihood training for women fisherfolk and held an interactive session with lead fisherfolk on the Collaborative Management Association (CMA) approach to fisheries governance.
The visit concluded with a debriefing between EU and CERATH teams, with the EU encouraging continuity in community engagement on key project deliverables.
