stories

The project team of the Power to the Fishers has conducted a data collection exercise to investigate the social and financial inclusion of fisherfolk. The objective was to find out the perceptions, knowledge, and adoption rate of fintech and social protection services among fisherfolk.

The team, within two weeks, engaged telcos, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), and fisherfolk in the target areas: Awutu Senya, Effutu, Gomoa West, Ekumfi, and Shama districts. Questionnaires were administered to fisherfolk and expert interviews held with service providers (telcos and district NHIA offices). These activities will culminate in a learning workshop (which will be duly communicated) and a research report.

The Power to the Fishers project is funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by CERATH Development Organization.
