LFGP in collaboration with the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) has commenced a five-day intensive capacity-building session for journalists and media practitioners in Sinoe County.
This training aims to enhance the skills of local journalists and media institutions—notably Voice of Sinoe, Liberty Radio, and Radio Butaw—to produce ethical, timely, and accurate reports, which can be leveraged for fisheries governance and fisherfolk rights reporting.
Over the five days, participants will explore diverse thematic areas including
- Content Gathering and reporting
- Storytelling and media engagement
- Photography, Videography & Digital Tools
- Media Advocacy and Campaigning
The training adopts a hands-on and participatory approach, ensuring participants seamlessly incorporate the new knowledge into their media practice.
Speaking at the opening, representatives from CDO and PUL emphasized the critical role of the media in promoting sustainable fisheries management and amplifying the voices of fisherfolk—particularly women and marginalized groups—within the governance landscape.
