CERATH Development Organization has received funding from the European Union under the West Africa Competitiveness Programme to implement the Talking Agribusiness in Liberia project.

Talking Agribusiness in Liberia is an agribusiness and communications-based action that seeks to disseminate information and raise awareness on the opportunities for the competitiveness of agribusinesses, regional (trade) integration of Liberia’s agri-/food value chains, and facilitate the development of an improved environment for agri-/food businesses to thrive.

The project will conduct six (6) communication events, each preceded by background research, and will create related communication products aimed at raising awareness of agribusinesses and their potential for expansion, as well as the need for government policies to support these agribusinesses.

As part of the implementation of the Talking Agribusiness in Liberia project, the assignment team is engaging stakeholders in Liberia’s food systems and agri-/food value chains. From June 14-17, 2022, the assignment team conducted stakeholder engagements in the Montserrado and Margibi counties. The key stakeholders engaged included those from the public sector- The Ministry of Agriculture and the National Investment Commission; the private sector- AgroRetti Incorporation (an agri-/food enterprise, Margibi county), the education & skills development sector – the University of Liberia; and young people.

The purpose of the engagement was to introduce the project and validate the agribusiness research topics and themes proposed by the assignment team.
