🌿 Talking Agribusiness in Liberia Wraps Up with Final Communication Event

Uncategorized

Last month, the Talking Agribusiness in Liberia (TaAL) project, under the West Africa Competitiveness Programme (WACOMP), successfully concluded its final communication event, marking the end of the project. TaAL established impactful platforms that empowered stakeholders to reflect, engage, and shape a strategic path forward for Liberia’s agribusiness sector.

The online event brought together over 50 key participants, including representatives from the government institutions, development partners, agribusiness enterprises, farmers’ associations, and media outlets. Together, they examined how recent agribusiness and food systems initiatives have strengthened Liberia’s competitiveness and advanced its agri-food value chains.

Key highlights from the event include reflections on major agribusiness projects and their alignment with Liberia’s national development priorities, emphasis on regional trade integration through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the recognition of youth and children as key agents for building a sustainable food system in shaping sustainable food systems, and the importance of mechanization,  financial access, and evidence-based policy reforms to drive agribusiness competitiveness.

The research presented provided critical insights on over 70 agribusiness projects implemented across Liberia’s 15 counties, providing recommendations to guide future investments and policy decisions.

Special thanks go to the European Union, Liberia’s Ministry of Agriculture, and all stakeholders whose invaluable contributions made this project a success. As we move forward, collaboration among multiple stakeholders and ongoing policy engagement will remain essential for accelerating Liberia’s agricultural transformation.
